>A Defeat For Discrimination

from Poliglot:

The Washington DC Court of Appeals has issued its decision in Bishop Harry Jackson’s appeal of the DC Board of Elections and Ethic’s decision that his proposed marriage initiative–a ban on same-sex marriage–was an improper subject of an initiative. All 9 judges agreed that Jackson’s proposed marriage initiative would violate the Human Rights Act and is, thus, not permitted.

And, in the absence of a successful appeal, marriage equality in Washington DC, which went into effect earlier this year, cannot be subject to an initiative.

You can put down the Bible, Bishop Jackson, God and the law are not on your side.

God is love.
And the law, at least in DC, is equal.
