>Architecture Wednesday

You know, one of the problems with putting an addition on your home, is getting it to mesh seamlessly with the existing home. Many additions just can’t shake the fact that they’re an addition, an afterthought.
So, why not take the opposite approach?
Make your addition look absolutely nothing like your 18th century farmhouse. Make your addition look like a wooden cube tacked onto your home. But, and this is where it works, maintain the same modest, streamlined, minimalist interiors in the new wing and the old wing.
The renovation, done by Messana O’Rorke, of this Eighteenth Century homestead in an apple orchard in Columbia Country, New York. Each building stands alone yet interconnected.

  2. >You are a terrible, terrible man for posting this. I live for ultra-contemporary architecture, especially when counterpointed by what looks like a drab old barn.Don't you understand this is my porn? Oh, hell. I'm in hell.

  5. >I love the look of the interiors Bob, but I'm too much of a traditionalist when it comes to the exteriors of homes. I must say that I do like the shot of the addition enveloping the original home.

  6. >Love that table!!!Gorgeous simplicity Bob!
